June 2007 News from Hollis Community Church
And they’re off, now official our summer activities have begun.
(We are praying that some summer weather would show up too!) J
As we write this letter it’s 49 degrees (In June!)
Carolyn Watson, Indiana Gerry Kuser, Maryland Chris, Tracy, & Ralph, Georgia
Team Update: Ms. Carolyn Watson will be spending the summer with us and assisting teams with kitchen help and planning. Mr. Gerry Kuser will also be spending several months helping with plumbing needs and all other aspects of construction. In May a mechanical team from Grace Baptist in Evans, GA prepared vehicles for the summer with oil changes and many other repairs. Thanks to Chris, Tracy and Ralph, other incoming teams will be able to travel this summer.
CHURCH UPDATE:
We’re really excited about moving into the new sanctuary by the end of the summer!!
We are continuing to grow as God has answered our prayers about having new families move into the area. Please continue to pray for those new residents to join us on Sundays as we gather for corporate worship. We are also meeting for church wide bible study on Sunday nights and a ladies bible study on Thursdays. On Sunday nights we are currently learning about other religions and cults. The ladies bible study focuses on how to become women God can use, based on the life of Esther.
Website news:
Morningstar Media (a ministry of GreenPeas Productions from First Baptist Church, Waynesboro GA) has graciously offered to update and maintain our website!
Please be sure to check it out at www.hollisbible.org You can even leave comments.
DONATE ONLINE: You can now donate on line! Just go to our website and click on a donate button (either for camp projects or for Jeff and Rhonda Jones support). You can give one time or set up monthly giving. (Some of our regular faith partners have asked for this, and it’s finally here). It is done through Pay Pal. You will need to set up a Pay Pal Account (if you don’t already have one for those ebay purchases. A very easy process.
CAMP UPDATE:
Construction is continuing this summer as we focus on completing several projects including the bath house, sanctuary, workshop, and other misc. items left undone from years past.
We will not be holding a camp at this facility this summer. Instead, we have a team from Grace Baptist of Evans, GA that will be going into Hydaburg to conduct an Upward Basketball Camp. This will replace our normal week of Hydaburg camp in Hollis for this year.
Jeff and Chris Kerley (Pastor of Missions) Grace Baptist, Evans, GA met with leaders in Hydaburg, and everyone is excited about the upcoming camp.
We are also having other teams go into Hydaburg for performing and prayer walking.
Construction teams are just beginning and we will give a full report on each team and their work, and a report on the entire summer, in our next newsletter (September 2007).
JONES FAMILY UPDATE:
Colton (14) is very happy that he has obtained his driving (learner’s) permit. (You can get those in AK when you’re 14!) He is becoming quite a helper for Jeff. We can’t believe he’s going to be in high school this fall! Caden (11+) is also a great helper and enjoys looking for newts in the rock quarry. He enjoys science especially, but likes all school subjects. Cana (7) is very cute with several teeth missing, and she has become an avid reader like her two older brothers. She and her brothers spend hours on the beach catching crabs and fish. Canaan (5) is continuing to do well without any seizures! Thank you all for lifting his health up in prayer. He is as rambunctious as ever and is having lots of fun looking under rocks for crabs. He is also getting ready to read. And, he has his ever handy rope and water gun in case he needs to catch some bad guys or animals. Christen is 19 months old now and all over the place! She likes to sing and dance, and her new favorite word is ow . Jeff is always busy with shepherding 5 children and rearing his family, pastoring a church and preparing sermons, directing the construction of the camp, and being the Coca Cola delivery man for Prince of Wales Island. Rhonda stays busy chasing kids, schooling kids, leading ladies bible study, leading music, and helping Jeff.
PRAYER FOCUS: We are praying and seeking God’s will regarding permanent, full time helpers. There are a tremendous number of responsibilities to handle as a couple. From church duties, to office duties, to camp and construction, community responsibilities and just plain family life we are stretched. Please pray for this as we wait to see how God supplies. J
The Hollis Express made it!!! Thank you all very much ~ we picked the bus up in Thorne Bay last week. It seemed like Christmas in June for building materials and tools to keep construction going. The bus was packed!!
Everyone in Hollis sends you all a huge THANK YOU!!

Hey Jeff, Rhonda & Gang,
Hope all is well - enjoyed your June newsletter.
Please pray for me - I am doing a presentation on our trip last year in the morning to our WMU group during the SS hour. I want the Lord to get the glory for all that has been done and for the fact that I got to come! Will be giving out your web site, and address. Hope that will help you! Take care-
Praising God from Whom ALL our blessings flow! Linda
