HOLLIS COMMUNITY CHURCH AND CAMP &
JONES FAMILY UPDATEÂ May 2006 edition
We made it back from our whirlwind trip to Georgia. We really enjoyed visiting with family and friends, and meeting new ones! We are thankful for opportunities we had to visit many churches, and tell them about some of the things that God is doing in S.E. Alaska.CHURCH:Everyone at Hollis Bible Church is getting geared up for another super summer! We are also getting ready to begin a new bible study based on the book by Dean Sherman, Spiritual Warfare for Every Christian. Our island churches and schools were blessed with a visit from Debbie Vik (C&MA missionary to Thailand) She spoke in three public schools and several churches. She and the Jones kids had been praying for snow, and their prayers were answered! We had from 4-12 inches of snow that continued to fall and lasted through the middle of March. This is more than Prince of Wales has had in several years. Many people on the island asked our children to quit praying for snow. J
Here at the church we have begun to plan for hosting the teams that will come this summer. Several teams will come prepared to lead VBS as well as help with construction. Times of worship and fellowship will bring us all together quite a few times each week during the summer while teams are here. South Tongass Alliance Church in Ketchikan gave us 60 new (used) chairs for our sanctuary. They are really beautiful (and comfortable). What a blessing!
To: VBS kids from Sharon Baptist in Appling, GA and the helpful people at O.M. Literature in Waynesboro, GA – Thank you for helping grow our church library!
Shortly we will post a calendar on the website so you can keep up with all the activity and know who and what to pray for
Contact Rhonda if you are interested in sending in used ink jet cartridges to help raise funds for Hollis Bible Church and Camp. See info. on our website. Others have already begun with this ongoing collection. J
COMMUNITY:
Jeff, Bill Sharpes, Dan Sharp (2 elders from HBC) & Colton and Caden were among 18 men from our community that were able to participate in fire training for three days with instructors from Anchorage and Ketchikan. The community received a new bush ambulance last year, and our first real fire fighting equipment this year, and more equipment is on the way.
