HOLLIS COMMUNITY CHURCH AND CAMP &
JONES FAMILY UPDATEÂ SEPTEMBER 2005 edition
We made it to the end of a very busy summer! Now, we begin a very busy fall and winter. Summer brought teams here for building, VBS (
From the day we arrived in May, until the beginning of September, there were only 8 days without a team or guests. Almost every week brought teams ranging from 12-15 people and there were days when teams overlapped. Then we would house as many as 35 people at a time. All total there were approximately 140 people who spent time here this past quarter. Some of these teams helped in building, VBS and camp in Hollis, while other teams went to other communities for VBS and work projects.
God provided in amazing ways throughout the summer. As we continued with building projects, we would see God’s directing us to move ahead without knowing where resources would come from. As we took those steps to continue, God supplied the people and finances necessary.
An 1100 sq.ft. bathhouse was built with a second floor that will likely serve as our new sanctuary. This building is incomplete, but dried in. Wiring and plumbing were run to the existing cabins. Bunk beds were built for the cabins and we were able to acquire 8 more sets of bunk beds and mattresses that will be placed in the next 2 cabins (to be built). We also acquired a 72 passenger school bus!
Obviously the reason all this activity is being done is where this facility will be available to spread the Good News of the Gospel to all who would use it. Thankfully teams have been made up of people who have helped build and conduct VBS. Also, in the middle of a construction zone we had a 4 day camp (our first camp ever!) for children ages 7-10. Ultimately the most important thing that happened here this summer was kids coming to know Christ!! Of 90 kids reached through this ministry this summer, 25 received Christ as their Savior, and others deepened their commitment to Christ. It was also a tremendous blessing to see God work through and in the lives of all of those who came here to help. We really love all of you and are very thankful for those of you who came to help this summer and those who supported our family as we ministered here!

OUR PURPOSE:
“Our family exists to bring glory to Jesus Christ as we exalt Him as Savior and Lord, and to pursue an intimate relationship with Him. We will love and serve others as we point them toward Jesus through a Romans: 12 life, and through vigorously pursuing ministry opportunities which God places before us.â€
